Bulletins & Engage moderation

Officers post bulletins (pinned announcements) and moderate Engage forums to keep discussion productive.

Post a chapter bulletin

Bulletins appear at the top of every member's dashboard. Use them for:

  • Chapter meeting reminders
  • Important announcements from leadership
  • Time-sensitive deadlines

Steps

  1. Open Bulletins in your sidebar.
  2. Click New bulletin.
  3. Add a title and body.
  4. Pick:
    • Pin until date (the bulletin stops pinning after this; default 7 days)
    • Push notification — send a push when posted
    • Email — send a one-time email blast
  5. Click Publish.

Edit or unpublish a bulletin

  1. Open the bulletin.
  2. Click Edit to update content.
  3. Or click Unpublish to remove it from dashboards (it remains in the bulletin archive).

Edits are logged in the audit log.

Engage moderation actions

In any forum where you're a moderator, hover over a post or thread. You'll see options regular members don't:

Moderation rules and auto-flagging

Your org admin sets moderation rules — keyword filters, link rules, attachment restrictions. Posts that hit a rule get auto-flagged for your review (not auto-deleted).

The Flagged tab in your moderation panel shows what needs review.

User restrictions

When you restrict a user:

  1. Set duration: 24 hours, 7 days, Until lifted.
  2. Add a reason.
  3. Confirm.

The user can still read but can't post in the restricted forum. They get a notification with your reason.

Audit log

Every moderation action is logged. Org admins can review actions from Org → Settings → Reports → Audit log.

Officer etiquette

  • Don't moderate your own threads. If you posted it, ask another officer to handle moderation issues.
  • Edit transparently. When you edit someone's post, add an italic "[edited by Mod for X]" note at the bottom.
  • Lock, don't delete. Outdated discussions are usually better locked than removed.
  • Talk to people first. A DM often resolves issues that look like a moderation problem at first glance.

Tips

  • Bulletins are loud. Don't overuse — once a week is plenty for most chapters.
  • Pin sparingly. A forum with 6 pinned threads is a forum with 0 pinned threads.
